Rooibos Gravel
The Rooibos Gravel race is specifically for Gravel Bike riders and is approximately 120km of pure gravel bliss, showcasing the best gravel routes that Piekenierskloof and the region can offer.
The route initially follows the other routes up the Piekenierskloof, and after approximately 15km the riders will take a sharp right which leads all the way towards the Jakkalsvlei Road, taking another sharp left at Middeltuin before working your way back to the Paleisheuwel station, before heading towards Het Kruis. Another sharp left will eventually take you towards the famous old Piekenierskloof Pass, which will also host the King and Queen of the Mountain.
PURE GRAVEL BLISS!
Some sections will be extremely fast, so please do take care. There will be a few leg burners, just as it should be……. see the route profile 😊
The 120km scenic route passes over privately owned farms, district gravel roads and it is for the more experienced and fit Gravel Bike riders.
Please do not enter this route option if you are not fit or comfortable doing a 120km Gravel Bike ride!
Note: MTB and E-Bikes are more than welcome to enter the 120km Route, but these riders will not qualify for podium or prizes.
E-bikes will also not receive any assistance with battery back up.
The Rooibos Gravel will have a cut-off time, and that will be communicated closer to race day.
Rooibos MTB is a Cycling South Africa Sanctioned event.
